Syrian Interim Government Minister of Education Mohammed Abdulrahman Terko met on Wednesday with Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani to discuss prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the fields of education and learning, ahead of the opening of the Fourth Kurdistan Education Forum in Hewlêr.
During the meeting, Terko underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Syrian Interim Government’s Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education in the Kurdistan Region, with a focus on exchanging expertise and best practices to enhance educational programmes and improve the quality of education.
In the presence of Kurdistan Region Minister of Education Alan Hameh Saeed, Terko thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government for hosting Syrian students and ensuring their access to education. He also praised its continued efforts to support the education sector and provide educational opportunities for Syrian students over the past years.
For his part, Masrour Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s readiness to deepen cooperation and coordination with the Syrian Interim Government, particularly in the education sector, in a manner that serves mutual interests and strengthens bilateral relations.
Mohammed Abdulrahman Terko is leading the Syrian Interim Government delegation participating in the Fourth Kurdistan Education Forum, which will be held in Hewlêr on 30–31 July, bringing together education officials and experts from several countries.
